How To Fix A Leaky Faucet In Your Milwaukee Home

A leaky faucet’s constant dripping isn’t only an annoyance, but is also a waste of money and water. Kitchen Faucet repair to bathroom Faucet repair, cartridge faucets, ball faucets, and Washer faucets can all be easily repaired. You can find a faucet repair kit at your local hardware store containing O-rings, washers, and rubber seals.

The first step is to determine where the leak is coming from the handle or the spout. Second you will need to turn off the water supply to the faucet. No matter what style faucet you have the first step to disassembling the faucet is to pop off the decorative cap with a straight tip screwdriver and unscrewing the screw located inside the handle.

Cartridge Faucet Repair

If your Milwaukee home cartridge faucet leaks from the handle, the upper O-Ring is the problem. If your Milwaukee home cartridge faucet leaks from the spout, the lower O-Ring is the problem. If your cartridge faucet isn’t mixing hot and cold correctly, the cartridge is the problem. In order to install the correct cartridge, remove the old cartridge first and bring it into your local hardware store. To get to the cartridge, you will need to pop off the cap. Unscrew the retainer screw. Pull off the handle assembly. Remove the retainer nut with pliers. Remove the retainer nut, a small screwdriver works best. Remove the spout. Loosen and grab the neck of the cartridge to pull of the cartridge. Place the new cartridge. If you also need to replace the O-Rings, they can be removed at this point and are located on the faucet body located under the spout.

Ball Faucet Repair

If your Milwaukee home ball faucet leaks at the handle, you will need to simply tighten the adjusting ring on the faucet cap. You will need to remove the handle to locate the Faucet cap adjusting ring. If you have the wrench that came with the faucet you can simply tighten the adjusting ring. If you do not have the wrench, you can also use two narrow-blade straight tip screwdrivers. If your Milwaukee home ball faucet leaks from the spout, you will need to replace the rubber seats and springs. You will need to remove the faucet cap, lift out the ball assembly, and replace both rubber seats and springs.

Washer Faucet Leak Repair

If your Milwaukee home washer faucet is leaking from the spout you will need to replace the rubber washer on the bottom of the valve stem. If your washer faucet is leaking elsewhere, you will only need to replace the O-rings. First you will need to remove the faucet handle. Remove the bonnet from the faucet body.  Remove the valve stem from the bonnet by removing the screw. Replace the O-rings and rubber washer as needed. Repeat to replace O-rings and washers on both handles.
